India Tracker: 25 Muslims Killed in Hate Crimes in 2026
A group called the India Persecution Tracker keeps count of bad things that happen to Muslim people in India.
They say that in the first seven months of 2026, 44 Muslim people lost their lives because of hate.
Hate means hurting people because of who they are or what they believe.
Some of these sad events were done by government workers.
Others were done by people with extreme beliefs.
The tracker says 19 deaths were caused by people working for the state.
It says 25 deaths were caused by other attackers.
Many Muslim homes and places of worship were also torn down.
Many Muslim people were also taken away or sent out of their homes.
The tracker says these things show that unfair treatment is still happening.
The India Persecution Tracker reports that 25 Muslims were killed in incidents classified as anti-Muslim hate crimes between May and July 2026.
Of those 25 deaths, 15 were attributed to state actors and 10 were linked to Hindu extremist non-state actors.
The total number of Muslims killed in the first seven months of 2026 reached 44.
State actors caused 19 of the 44 deaths, while 25 were caused by Hindutva assailants.
The period also saw widespread demolitions of Muslim homes and religious structures, as well as mass detentions and expulsions.
