Maharashtra Issues 3.16 Lakh Kunbi Certificates for Maratha Reservation
Maharashtra is giving some people certificates connected to Maratha reservation benefits.
These include Kunbi, Maratha-Kunbi and Kunbi-Maratha certificates.
Officials said nearly 3.17 lakh certificates were issued in Marathwada.
They said about 2.95 lakh of these were connected to the 10% reservation.
More than 21,000 caste-verification applications were received.
About 16,000 were approved, while 64 were rejected and the rest are still being checked.
The government has opened access to 57 lakh old records that may help applicants.
Special village-level camps will be held from September 10 to 17.
A committee is also visiting the region to review the process.
Maharashtra issued 3,16,977 Kunbi, Maratha-Kunbi and Kunbi-Maratha certificates from 3,17,569 applications in Marathwada.
Officials said 2,95,305 certificates were issued in connection with the 10% Maratha reservation.
Of 21,051 caste-verification applications, 16,110 were cleared and 64 were rejected; the remaining cases are under review.
The government has made 57 lakh identified old records available and will hold gram panchayat camps from September 10 to 17.
The Justice Shinde Committee began its Marathwada tour on September 7 as officials reviewed certificate issuance and verification.
