Delhi’s Expenditure Finance Committee approved a Rs 151.81 crore Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Sheikh Sarai.
The facility will occupy approximately 6,300 square metres and have 18,300 square metres of built-up space.
The Public Works Department has been tasked with completing construction within two years.
Officials said new criminal laws have significantly increased demand for forensic investigations.
The lab will serve South, Southeast and Central Delhi and support the existing FSL in Rohini.
