NBEMS Announces Final Mop-Up Round Schedule For DNB Counselling 2026
Imagine you are a doctor who just finished medical school and wants more training.
For this training, you get a special certificate called DNB, which stands for Diplomate of National Board.
To get into the training, doctors use an online system called counselling.
The system helps match doctors with hospitals that have open spots.
Earlier rounds of matching happened, and some doctors got seats.
Doctors who did not get a seat in the first or second round can try again in a final matching round.
This final round is called the Mop-up Round.
Doctors can pick their choices from August 21st to 24th.
The results will be announced on August 27th.
Doctors who get a seat must join their hospital by September 1st, or they could lose their spot and the first-year course fee.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the schedule for the Final (Mop-up) Round of online centralised merit-based Post-Diploma DNB counselling for the 2026 admission session.
Eligible candidates can log in and fill their choices from August 21 to 24, 2026, up to 5 PM.
Allotment processing will take place from August 25 to 26, 2026, with the allotment result announced on August 27, 2026.
Physical joining at the allotted hospital must happen between August 27 and September 1, 2026, or candidates lose their seat and forfeit the first-year course fee.
Only candidates already registered for counselling who were not allotted a seat in the first and/or second round are eligible; hospitals must update resignation details by August 20, 2026.
