Supreme Court Restores Seats for NEET SS 2025 Counselling

The Supreme Court has ordered that 151 vacant Super Speciality medical seats be returned to the central counselling pool.

This decision comes after a long dispute with Tamil Nadu, which wanted to keep these seats for local candidates.

The court has given the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) two weeks to finish the counselling process.

This means thousands of candidates waiting to get into Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) programs can now proceed with their admissions.

Candidates who have already filled in their choices might need to update their preferences because the seat matrix will change.

The MCC will also automatically consider candidates from Round 1 for better seats in Round 2.

Medical organizations are happy with this decision because the delay was affecting the training of future specialists and creating vacancies in healthcare institutions.
