'Rang De Basanti' Campaign Engages Gen Z Against Fear Culture
In Prayagraj, a city in India, grown-ups started a special project called 'Rang De Basanti.'
The project is like a big art and poetry party for young people, known as Gen Z. Its job is to help young people share their feelings through poems, songs, and paintings.
The people who started it want to end a 'culture of fear' — a time when people were scared of bad people known as the mafia.
At the first event, eight young poets read powerful poems full of bravery, called Veer Ras and Ojas Ras poetry.
Over the next few days, the project will visit other cities in Uttar Pradesh, like Lucknow and Muzaffarnagar.
In Lucknow, artists will paint big murals, and in Muzaffarnagar, funny comics that teach people to be friendly will be shared with students.
Just before Independence Day, a special song called 'Dar Se Azadi,' which means 'Freedom from Fear,' will be launched.
The event will also mix rap music, live performances, and digital art.
The whole idea is to show that being creative and brave is stronger than being scared.
Prayagraj launched the 'Rang De Basanti' campaign on August 11 to engage Gen Z through poetry and art against mafia rule and the culture of fear.
The campaign will run across Uttar Pradesh cities until August 14, beginning at Prayagraj's Hindustani Academy.
Eight Gen Z poets performed Veer Ras and Ojas Ras poetry; the event was chaired by lyricist Dr Vinamra Sen Singh, with storyteller Acharya Shantanu Ji Maharaj as chief guest.
On August 12, Lucknow will host a live graffiti wall initiative depicting the impact of mafia culture; on August 13, Muzaffarnagar will host comic distribution and school dialogue programmes.
On the eve of Independence Day, the campaign anthem 'Dar Se Azadi' (Freedom from Fear) will launch across the state with rap music, live performances and digital art.
