Indian teams in Antarctica have started a cleanup and organising drive.

They are working at two Indian research stations, Maitri and Bharati.

The work is part of a campaign to clear pending matters.

The teams are doing this in very cold conditions, with temperatures reported at around minus 48 degrees Celsius.

The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research said the goal is to keep workplaces clean and well organised.

The teams belong to India’s 45th scientific expedition to Antarctica.

The Bharati winter team includes two women scientists and a woman doctor.

The summer team had earlier completed major tasks, including bringing cargo and deploying oceanographic floats.
