Vasai Man, 84, Dies by Suicide; Son and Friend Accused
Gabriel Dominic Coutinho was 84 years old and lived in the Vasai area.
Police say he died after jumping in front of a train at Naigaon station on September 28.
Beforehand, he gave his daughter a bag with documents, money and a note.
The note reportedly said he was taking his life because of alleged mistreatment by his son and the son’s friend.
His daughter also accused her brother of mistreating their father over many years.
She said the men allegedly assaulted him shortly before his death.
Police have registered a case against the two men and are investigating.
The allegations have not been established in court.
Police identified the deceased as Gabriel Dominic Coutinho, 84, who died after jumping in front of a local train at Naigaon station on September 28.
His daughter, Rupa Noel Chirayat, said he gave her a bag containing documents, money and a suicide note before his death.
The daughter’s complaint alleges that her brother, Shyam Coutinho, had harassed their father for 12 to 13 years.
The report says Shyam and his friend Sagar allegedly assaulted Gabriel on September 26, took his food plate and forced him out of the house.
Bhayander Railway Police registered a case against Shyam and Sagar for alleged abetment of suicide and began an investigation.
