BMC Worker Dies After Falling During Dengue Inspection in Naigaon
A man in Mumbai had a very sad accident.
His name was Pandurang Todkar and he was 47 years old.
He worked for the city government, checking places where mosquitoes might lay eggs.
This work is important because mosquitoes can spread sickness like dengue.
On Saturday, he was looking at a water tank at a big old housing building in Naigaon.
He slipped while climbing down and fell.
He hit his back and a metal stick hurt his eye.
He was taken to a hospital very quickly, but the doctors could not save him.
He left behind a wife and two sons.
The city's mayor came to meet his family and promised to help them with money and a job.
Pandurang Todkar, a 47-year-old BMC worker, died after falling 5–7 feet while inspecting a water tank at BDD Chawl No. 6-A in Naigaon.
He was conducting a routine check for dengue mosquito-breeding sites as the BMC Pest Control Department has intensified inspections.
Todkar slipped while stepping down from the tank, fell on his back, and a metal rod struck his eye, causing a serious injury.
He was rushed to civic-run KEM Hospital, where doctors attempted CPR and resuscitation, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde met the grieving family and directed officials to process pensionary benefits and a municipal job for his eligible dependent.
