Tamil Nadu teacher canes 10 girls, faces charges, exams missed
A school teacher in Tamil Nadu, a state in India, is in trouble with the police.
She is accused of hitting ten girl students with a cane.
The teacher became angry because the girls were making noise in their classroom.
The students' hands were badly injured and swollen from the caning.
Because of the swelling, the students could not go to school or take their important exams.
One student, named Pavithra, had to stay in a hospital for three days.
Pavithra's mother complained to the district officer about what happened.
The police then registered a case against the teacher.

A case was registered against 44-year-old government school teacher Thenmaria Suganthi for allegedly caning 10 Class 10 female students in Tamil Nadu's Tenkasi district.
The incident occurred on July 20 at a Government Higher Secondary School in VK Pudur near Surandai.
The teacher, conducting a Class 11 session, allegedly entered the adjacent Class 10 room after being angered by its noise and caned the students.
The students suffered severe hand injuries with persistent swelling, required treatment at VK Pudur Government Hospital and private facilities, and missed school and exams; Pavithra was hospitalised for three days.
Police registered a case under Section 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act after Pavithra's mother Rajathi complained to the District Collector.
