Indo-Argentine Army Team Successfully Summits Two Himalayan Peaks
Soldiers from India and Argentina joined together to climb two very tall Himalayan mountains.
They reached Mt Abi Gamin on September 17 and Mt Kamet on September 21.
The team had 35 people, including 25 from the Indian Army and 10 from the Argentine Army.
Lieutenant Colonel Chirag Chatterjee led the group.
The climbers faced cold weather, strong winds, snow, steep rocks and crevasses.
Their climbs showed they could work together in difficult mountain conditions.
This was the third mountaineering trip the two armies have made together.
The armies said these expeditions help build trust and give their personnel experience working together.
The joint expedition summited Mt Abi Gamin, at 7,355 metres, on September 17.
The team reached Mt Kamet, at 7,756 metres, on September 21.
The 35-member team included 25 Indian Army personnel and 10 Argentine Army personnel.
Led by Lieutenant Colonel Chirag Chatterjee, the expedition departed New Delhi on August 21.
The climbs were the third joint mountaineering venture between the two armies.
