Netherlands Moves 86 Tonnes of Gold to London
DNB shifts gold from US, Canada to UK, cites ‘geopolitical unrest’ · theprint.in

The Netherlands keeps some of its money in the form of gold.

Its central bank moved 86 tonnes of that gold away from the United States and Canada.

Most of the gold is now held in London by the Bank of England.

The bank said London gold is easier to trade if a crisis happens.

Officials said the move was meant to make the country better prepared for uncertain events.

Some gold bars were physically transported, while other gold was sold in New York and bought again in London.

The operation took place between March and August.

The bank did not explain exactly what geopolitical problems it was worried about.
