Vice-President Lays Foundation for Rs 110 Crore University Projects
Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan helped begin several new projects at Gauhati University.
The projects will cost about Rs 110 crore.
They include a new academic building and hostels for boys and international students.
Work will also improve the university auditorium and library.
The Vice-President said the university is important to the Northeast.
He praised its research on the Brahmaputra, languages, the environment and other subjects.
He asked students to use research and new ideas to help their communities.
He also released two books during the event.
Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan laid the foundation stone for Rs 110 crore in infrastructure projects at Gauhati University.
The projects include a multidisciplinary academic building, boys’ and international-student hostels, and improvements to the auditorium and library.
Radhakrishnan highlighted Gauhati University’s history, NAAC A+ accreditation and ninth-place ranking among state public universities in NIRF 2025.
He urged research on regional challenges, including the Brahmaputra basin, endangered languages, environmental sustainability and Indian knowledge systems.
Radhakrishnan released books on Bhupen Hazarika and the revised edition of “Chandrakanta Abhidhan.”
