Assam names four accused in Arunachal border firing; blockade continues

India is a big country made up of smaller parts called states, and sometimes two neighbouring states argue about where one state ends and the other begins.

People near the border between the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh got into a very big argument about land.

During the argument, some people fired guns, and 12 people from Assam were hurt.

The police in Assam think four people from a village in Arunachal Pradesh did the firing, but those people live in the other state, so catching them is harder.

Students and local groups in Assam are so upset that they are blocking the roads, stopping cars and buses from going to or coming from Arunachal Pradesh.

They say they will keep blocking the roads until the four people are caught, and they gave the leaders 48 hours to do it.

The next day, another small fight broke out, and police had to fire their guns in the air to make people stop.

The Assam government says the land where the shooting happened clearly belongs to Assam and is not part of any dispute between the states.

It has promised to pay for the hospital care of the people who were hurt, and the leaders of both states are meeting to try to solve the problem peacefully.
