Health Department Inspects IVF Centres, Suspends Nine For Violations
Health officials checked private IVF and fertility centres to see if they were following the rules.
They inspected 379 centres and found problems at 50 of them.
Nine centres were temporarily stopped from operating under their permissions, and two lost their registrations.
Some centres had poor records, missing complaint systems or addresses that did not match their registrations.
The health minister ordered stricter action and asked officials to protect patients from unnecessary costs.
Two government hospitals have already provided fertility services to many patients.
Officials also plan to improve these services and gradually expand them to more districts.
More inspections will check staff, medicines, registrations and grievance systems.
Inspections found rule violations at 50 of 379 private fertility and IVF centres.
Nine centres had their permissions temporarily suspended, while two registrations were cancelled.
Reported violations included poor records, missing grievance cells and unregistered operating addresses.
Government IVF centres at Gandhi Hospital and Petlaburj Maternity Hospital treated 39,802 patients and performed 545 IVF procedures.
Officials will monitor 477 registered ART and surrogacy centres and consider expanding public IVF services to districts.
