Asian Women Run marks first anniversary with big community event
Some women started a group called Asian Women Run to help South Asian women become more active.
One year later, the group is growing and going strong.
To celebrate, they held their biggest event ever at a big park.
Anyone could come, not just Asian women, and choose to walk, jog or run 5 or 10 kilometres.
Hundreds of people came with their children and families.
The event was free because kind helpers like the National Trust, businesses and local shops supported it.
People got drinks, snacks and even samosas after their run.
Some women in their sixties took part, showing you can start being active at any age.
The group helps women make friends and feel less lonely and more confident.
Asian Women Run (AWR) held its biggest event yet at Osterley Park to mark its first anniversary.
The free family fun day on Sunday, July 26 featured 5K and 10K walk, run and jog routes.
The event was part of South Asian Heritage Month and was open to the wider community, not just Asian women.
The National Trust provided the venue, while Metro Bank, Pando Bakery, sponsors and local businesses supported the event.
AWR aims to help South Asian women, especially those over 40, overcome barriers to being active and to tackle loneliness and lack of confidence.
