High Tide May Delay Mumbai Ganpati Immersion; Police Use AI
Mumbai is preparing for a large Ganpati idol immersion event.
The sea’s high tide may make some immersions happen later than planned.
Several famous idols are expected to reach Girgaon Chowpatty between 6 pm and 7 pm.
Police want processions to arrive as early as possible.
They have placed GPS trackers on some idol trolleys.
This lets officers see where the processions are and coordinate arrangements.
About 100 cameras and three drones will watch the crowded beach area.
Police will also use an AI system containing photographs of about 20,000 accused people to help spot suspected offenders.
A late high tide may delay Ganpati idol immersions at Mumbai’s Girgaon Chowpatty.
Parel’s Raja, Ganesh Galli’s Mumbai Cha Raja and Teju Kaya Mansion’s Raja may arrive around 6–7 pm.
Police have fitted GPS trackers to trolleys carrying idols from prominent mandals.
Girgaon Chowpatty will be monitored using about 100 CCTV cameras, three drones and AI technology.
The facial-recognition system contains photographs of around 20,000 accused persons to help identify suspected offenders.
