Odisha Unveils Rs 75.60-Crore Rehabilitation Package for Golabandha Families

The Odisha government has announced money and housing help for families who were displaced many years ago.

The Golabandha families had waited nearly 40 years for a lasting rehabilitation solution.

There are 1,371 families covered by the main package.

Each eligible family will receive Rs 5 lakh directly in its bank account.

The government will also finish some houses and build new ones.

Roads, lights, toilets, a market and other facilities will be developed at Kirtipur Colony.

Land papers were also given to 96 families displaced by the Cheligada irrigation project.

The government says the remaining land papers will be distributed soon.

It also expects the Cheligada project to help irrigate more than 6,000 hectares.
