Karivili Sarpanch Arrested in Alleged Rs 7.5 Lakh Bribery Case
A contractor won a project to improve Karivili lake.
Before the work could begin, officials needed a letter from the village council about its share of the project cost.
The contractor went to the village sarpanch, Sanjay Parshuram Naik, for that letter.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau says Naik demanded money in exchange for it.
The agency says the amount was eventually set at Rs 7.5 lakh.
ACB officers caught Naik while he was allegedly accepting that money.
He was arrested, and a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The report does not include a response from Naik.
