Punjab VB arrests Senior Assistant taking one lakh rupee bribe
In Punjab, a state in India, police caught a government office worker accepting money she should not have taken.
The worker's name is Bhupinder Kaur, and she worked as a Senior Assistant in an office in SAS Nagar.
She had asked a man for a very big payment of eight lakh rupees to help him get an auction plot of land.
The man did not want to pay a bribe, so he went to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau and told them what was happening.
The Bureau's officers made a plan to catch her.
They arranged for the man to give her one lakh rupees while they watched.
When she took the money, officers and two official witnesses saw her do it.
She was arrested right away, and a case has been registered against her under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The police are still investigating to decide what happens next.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Senior Assistant Bhupinder Kaur while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000.
Kaur was posted at the RIA branch of the DC Office, SAS Nagar, and was caught red-handed in a trap with two official witnesses.
She had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 8,00,000 from a complainant to provide an auction plot at Sky Rock Welfare Society, Sector 111/112, Mohali.
The complainant, a resident of village Chit, tehsil Batala, district Gurdaspur, approached the VB Flying Squad-1 SAS Nagar instead of paying.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at the VB police station SAS Nagar, and investigation is in progress.
