Israel envoy hints at imminent rollout of India's UPI system

India has a special payment system called UPI that lets people pay for things quickly using their phones.

The Israeli Ambassador to India has hinted that UPI will soon be available in Israel, writing 'Coming soon in Israel.'

This means people in Israel may soon be able to use India's popular payment method.

India and Israel signed an agreement in February 2026 to explore connecting UPI with Israel's fast payment system.

The ambassador had earlier said that Israel wants to adopt UPI and that its central bank was looking into it.

UPI is already used in more than eight countries around the world.
