Assam excels in tiger conservation efforts

On International Tiger Day, Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, celebrated the state's success in tiger conservation.

He mentioned that Assam has become a model for other regions due to its effective anti-poaching measures, tech-driven surveillance, and habitat management.

The Nameri Tiger Reserve, in particular, has seen a significant increase in its tiger population, from 3 to 12.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of protecting tigers to maintain the ecological balance of the region.

While the government is proud of these achievements, some environmentalists may argue that more needs to be done to address habitat fragmentation and human-wildlife conflict.
