India hands over tools, boats to strengthen Seychelles defence
India and Seychelles are two countries that help each other keep the ocean safe.
India gave Seychelles special tools and fixed electronic parts for planes called Dornier.
Seychelles uses these planes to watch over its ocean waters and help people in trouble at sea.
India also gave 50 safety helmets and ropes for the coast guard members.
Fixing and checking the tools was free, so Seychelles did not have to pay.
Now Seychelles can test and repair its planes by itself and much faster.
India also gave five small sailing boats to the Seychelles Defence Force.
These boats will help soldiers practise their sailing skills.
India's leader, Prime Minister Modi, promised these gifts when he visited Seychelles in June.
It was his first visit in many years, and the two countries are becoming closer partners.
India handed over three repaired Dornier Main Electronic Units (MEUs), 18 sets of calibrated specialised aircraft tools, 50 safety helmets and seamanship ropes to Seychelles.
The items were repaired and calibrated at Indian Naval facilities free of cost, enabling in-house testing and faster repairs of the Dornier fleet.
The Dornier fleet is used by the Seychelles Air Force for EEZ surveillance, casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) and search and rescue (SAR).
Earlier in the week, High Commissioner Rohit Rathish handed over five laser radial boats to the Seychelles Defence Force chief.
The handovers fulfil PM Narendra Modi's announcement made during his June state visit to Seychelles, his first since 2015.
