Iconic Bagh Print to Adorn Rashtrapati Bhavan Independence Day Reception
India is getting ready to celebrate its birthday, called Independence Day, which happens every year on August 15.
This year is the 80th time India celebrates becoming independent.
A family of artists from a place called Dhar in Madhya Pradesh makes a special kind of cloth art called Bagh Print.
They use wooden blocks and natural colors made from plants to print beautiful pictures on cloth.
The artists made big round table covers for a fancy party at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the home of India's President.
The President, Droupadi Murmu, will welcome about 650 very important guests from India and other countries.
The cloth art has designs like peanuts, flowers, and patterns inspired by old caves and famous buildings.
The invitation cards for the party also have these pretty designs on them.
The artist family is very proud because their art is being shown to the whole world.
Bagh Print, a traditional handicraft from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, will feature at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Round Bagh-style table covers will decorate the President's official 'At Home' high tea reception, which is expected to welcome approximately 650 VVIP guests from India and abroad.
Traditional Bagh Print motifs are also featured on the cover page of the official invitation cards sent to dignitaries.
The table covers were handcrafted by international and national award-winning master craftsman Mohammad Bilal Khatri, along with his brothers Kazim Khatri and Abdul Karim Khatri.
The 36" x 36" round covers were dyed with natural vegetable pigments and block-printed with motifs inspired by the Bagh Caves and the Taj Mahal and Red Fort, as well as rare tribal patterns such as Juwariya and Attha.
