Huawei Unveils Tri-Fold Mate XT 2 Ahead of Apple
Huawei has made a new phone that folds three times.
It can be used as a regular phone or opened into a much larger screen.
The larger screen has a special privacy feature that makes it harder for people beside you to see it.
Huawei says the new hinge protects the screen when the phone is folded.
The phone has powerful cameras, a large battery, and up to 2 TB of storage.
It also supports features such as 5G, satellite communication, and a stylus.
The least expensive version costs CNY 19,999 in China.
It will be sold there on September 10, but Huawei has not said when it will reach other countries.
Huawei unveiled the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design in China ahead of Apple’s planned foldable-phone presentation.
The tri-fold phone has a 6.5-inch outer display and a fully opened 10.2-inch OLED screen with a hardware privacy mode.
It uses an inward-folding design, a G-shaped hinge, and Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset.
The phone includes up to 16 GB of RAM, 2 TB of storage, a 5,600 mAh battery, and a quad-camera system.
Prices start at CNY 19,999, with sales beginning in China on September 10; international availability is unknown.
