East Godavari Committee Orders 22 Lift Tanks Filled Amid El Nino
The East Godavari District held a meeting to talk about water for farmers because it has been raining less than usual.
The district collector, Kirti Chekuri, told everyone that they need to fill 22 water tanks in the next 10 days, especially one called Rangampeta tank that is very dry.
Farmers have lost a lot of rain, about 60%, and about 9,000 hectares of land need water.
The collector also asked farmers to grow crops that use less water and to sign up for crop insurance.
The power company will make sure the pumps that lift water from the river keep working.
