Baramulla Police arrested Aijaz Ahmad Ganie after recovering a pistol and ammunition during naka checking at Zandfarn, Sheeri.
The August 1, 2026 operation involved Baramulla Police, 46 Rashtriya Rifles, 53 Central Reserve Police Force and 112 Border Security Force.
Police registered FIR No. 37/2026 under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act at Sheeri police station.
Investigators alleged that Ganie received weapons and hand grenades from terrorists and intended to support a terror-related attack.
Police invoked Sections 13, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and attached his house.
