Mangaluru College Students Launch Week-Long Drug-Free Awareness Campaign
A college in Mangaluru has started a week-long programme about staying away from drugs.
The programme is called Nirmaya – Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Students promised not to use narcotics and to help make society safer.
Speakers explained that drugs can harm the brain and lead to addiction.
They told students to say no when others pressure them.
Students were also encouraged to choose friends carefully and focus on their goals.
The speakers said people should ask for help at the right time if they face addiction.
Students from different colleges will join creative competitions during the programme.
Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Business Management began the week-long Nirmaya campaign on Wednesday.
Students jointly pledged to reject narcotics and help create a healthy, safe and drug-free society.
The programme was organized by the college’s National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, and Rovers and Rangers units.
Speakers highlighted the effects of addiction, encouraged students to refuse harmful influences, and urged them to seek help when needed.
Students from several colleges will participate in mural-painting, speech, reel-making and street-play competitions.
