Spotify to Add 'AI Persona' Badges on AI-Generated Artist Profiles
Spotify is a big app where people listen to music.
Some music is made by real people, and some is made with the help of artificial intelligence, which we call AI.
Sometimes an AI-made artist can look like a real human being, which made listeners confused about who actually made the music.
Spotify decided to add a special label, called an 'AI Persona' badge, to fix this.
The badge tells listeners, 'This artist is made by AI, not a real person.'
The badges will start appearing in the middle of September.
They will show up on the artist's picture, information page, in search results, and next to songs in playlists.
Artists can also tell Spotify themselves if they are AI, and Spotify will check profiles that seem to use AI-generated pictures.
Later, listeners will be able to report profiles they think are AI.
This helps people know exactly who or what made the music they enjoy.
Spotify announced it will add 'AI Persona' badges to some artist profiles beginning mid-September.
The badges aim to give listeners more transparency about whether the artist behind the music is a real person.
Spotify will identify AI personas through artist self-disclosure via Spotify for Artists and its own review team.
Badges will appear on profile banners, About sections, Search results, and track rows across playlists.
Spotify will initially focus on artists meeting audience-size thresholds and plans a listener-reporting feature in coming months.
