The food safety authority in Pune has warned food businesses not to use colours in ways the rules do not allow.

The warning applies to places such as hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and sweet and farsan makers.

Inspectors recently visited Punjabi Dhaba in Lohegaon.

They found hygiene and food safety problems, including the use of food colours.

The dhaba’s food safety registration was suspended right away.

Some foods may use certain colours, but only when the rules permit them and within set limits.

The FDA says serious violations could lead to further legal action.
