Assam CM Promises Long‑Term Reconstruction After Floods
Assam’s chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited villages that were badly damaged by floods.
He said the government will not only give money right away but also rebuild whole villages.
Families got a first payment of Rs 15,000 and the worst‑hit families will get an extra Rs 10,000.
The state also gave more than Rs 160 crore to help people get electricity and other services.
The government will keep working until life goes back to normal.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma vows long‑term rehabilitation for the worst‑hit villages in Sivasagar district after visiting flood‑devastated areas.
He announced that one new village will be rebuilt in each of Bihubor, Nepalikhuti, Betbari and Nimaichan as part of reconstruction plans.
More than 75,000 families received an initial Rs 15,000 cash transfer, with additional Rs 10,000 earmarked for the most severely affected households.
The state has also released over Rs 160 crore under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to aid flood victims in Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat.
Sarma said the government will conduct detailed loss assessments before final compensation and will continue support until normalcy returns.
