WhatsApp launches bill payments across India via Bharat Connect
WhatsApp now lets people in India pay many household bills inside the app.
Users can start by tapping the rupee symbol at the top of the WhatsApp home screen.
They then choose a bill type and the company they need to pay.
WhatsApp fetches the bill amount after users enter and confirm their account details.
People can pay with UPI, debit cards or credit cards.
The service includes bills such as electricity, gas, water, insurance and loan repayments.
Users can also manage bills for their home, office or family in one place.
The feature is being introduced gradually and will reach Android and iPhone users over the coming weeks.
WhatsApp is gradually rolling out bill payments across India for Android and iOS users.
The service is powered by Bharat Connect and covers 22,722 billers across 30 categories.
Users can pay electricity, gas, water, FASTag, insurance, credit card and loan bills.
Payments can be made using UPI, debit cards or credit cards.
Users can view past and upcoming bills and manage multiple accounts under one provider.
