Maharashtra's Sindhudurg Becomes India's First AI-Powered District

Imagine a whole district run by a super-smart computer brain.

That brain is called artificial intelligence, or AI, and it helps computers learn and solve problems.

A district called Sindhudurg in India became the first place in the country to use AI for its public services.

Starting on 1 May 2025, AI helped police find patterns and stop problems before they happened.

It also helped doctors find sick children early by tracking things like malnutrition.

AI watched big crowds at events to keep people safe.

It even listened for elephants and warned villages, so people and animals stayed out of trouble.

A police officer named Krushikesh Rawale helped make this happen with a technology company called MARVEL.

The project showed that even smaller places can use big technology.

Now, a group called NITI Aayog is studying Sindhudurg's ideas to see if other districts can use them too.
