Omar Abdullah launches AI centre, Project Phoenix for J&K governance
The leader of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, started some new projects to use smart computers to help people.
One project is a special centre at IIT Jammu, a big engineering school.
The centre will help the government build tools using Artificial Intelligence, which is technology that can learn and think a little like humans.
AI can help farmers learn about crop diseases and help doctors, teachers, and emergency services.
It can also warn people when dangerous weather, like cloudbursts, might happen so they can stay safe.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah launched the J&K Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence at IIT Jammu on Friday.
He also dedicated Project Phoenix, a digital commerce platform aimed at boosting innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The AI centre will serve as a hub for research, solution development, benchmarking, technology evaluation and deployment support.
Omar Abdullah urged AI deployment in agriculture, healthcare, education and disaster management to bridge the urban-rural divide.
Project Phoenix will connect artisans, self-help groups, cooperatives, startups, brands and MSMEs from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with national and global markets.
