PM Modi to Rally in West Bengal Amid SIR Controversy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to West Bengal on December 20 to speak at a big meeting in Taherpur.
This is important because the state government is against something called the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which is about updating voter lists.
The Prime Minister is expected to talk about this issue.
The meeting is also special because Taherpur has many Matua people and refugees, and both the Prime Minister and the state's chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, are trying to get their support.
The draft voter list will be published on December 16, just a few days before the meeting.
Meanwhile, the BJP held a meeting in Jharkhand to discuss the SIR and party elections, alleging that the Congress is spreading misinformation about SIR.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in Taherpur, West Bengal on December 20.
The visit comes amid opposition from the Trinamool Congress to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state.
PM Modi is expected to target the West Bengal government over the SIR issue during his rally.
Taherpur is significant due to its Matua population and large number of refugees settled since partition.
The draft voter list in West Bengal will be published on December 16, four days before the rally.
