Karnataka Says 13 Natives Remain Untraced After Nepal Floods
About 13 people from Karnataka are still missing after severe floods near Nepal’s border with Tibet.
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said government officials are trying to find them.
The state is working with India’s Ministry of External Affairs and other central authorities.
Officials had earlier listed 28 people as stranded or missing.
Four of them were later confirmed safe.
Most of the people were in Timure, Nepal, while some were in Darchen in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
The floods badly damaged towns and villages in northern and central Nepal.
Nepalese authorities said 903 people had died and nearly 4,250 were still missing.
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said about 13 people from the state remain untraced in Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region.
The state government is coordinating with India’s Ministry of External Affairs and central authorities to locate them.
Officials previously identified 28 Karnataka residents as stranded or missing, including 23 from Bengaluru Urban district.
Four of those 28 people were confirmed safe, while the latest statement reduced the number still untraced to about 13.
