Sánchez urges voters to back a new progressive government in Spain
Pedro Sánchez, Spain’s prime minister and Socialist Party candidate, spoke at a campaign rally in Ponferrada, in León.
He urged pensioners, women, LGTBI people, workers and young people to vote for a new progressive government.
Sánchez said his government’s policies had benefited these groups during the past eight years.
He also called on the Supreme Court to protect the voting rights of 400,000 people covered by the so-called grandchildren’s law.
Housing and public services were among the issues he raised, as he criticized the plans of the conservative People’s Party and Vox.
The election will decide whether Sánchez can lead another coalition government.
Spain’s national election is scheduled for 29 November.
