Calgary mayor warns Alberta’s Edmonton housing order threatens local decision-making

Alberta’s government told Edmonton to drop rules that allowed some multi-unit homes in older neighbourhoods.

Calgary’s mayor says the province’s order could weaken the right of city leaders to make local decisions.

The province says it stepped in after hearing concerns from Edmonton residents.

Calgary has already rolled back similar rules, and the province has told the city to keep them in place.
