Dori files Constitutional Court appeal in Delmastro case
Devis Dori has filed an appeal with Italy’s Constitutional Court over the Delmastro case.
Dori leads the parliamentary committee that considers requests for authorisation, and he says he acted to protect its role.
Centre-right lawmakers say he filed without consulting the committee and have questioned their trust in him, though Dori says no formal request for his resignation was made.
The dispute follows a parliamentary decision involving former undersecretary Andrea Delmastro and investigators’ request to access chats between him and Caroccia.
The Five Star Movement says lawmakers blocked access to the chats while prosecutors investigated possible money laundering involving Caroccia’s family, with whom Delmastro had business dealings.
The court may review whether the appeal is admissible in early 2027, Dori said; he considers it well-founded and says acceptance would itself be a victory.
Devis Dori, chair of the Chamber’s authorizations committee, filed an appeal with Italy’s Constitutional Court over the Delmastro case.
The appeal challenges a decision involving the Chamber’s President, Lorenzo Fontana, and a request by Rome prosecutors.
Centre-right deputies criticized Dori for filing without informing the committee or the Chamber’s leadership.
Dori said the appeal protects the committee’s role and that an admissibility review could come in early 2027.
The Five Star Movement defended Dori and criticized the decision to withhold Delmastro’s chats from investigators.
