Abhay Jodhpurkar says Shah Rukh Khan backed his voice for Zero song
Singer Abhay Jodhpurkar says he faced repeated setbacks while trying to establish himself in Hindi film music.
He had recorded trial versions for several films, but says those tracks were later given to better-known singers.
After moving to Bombay, he met composers Ajay-Atul, who asked him to record music, including “Mere Naam Tu” for the 2018 film Zero.
Jodhpurkar says the song was filmed over 14 days and Shah Rukh Khan felt his voice suited him.
He says director Aanand L. Rai and lyricist Irshad Kamil were also happy with the recording.
But because Jodhpurkar was not well known in Hindi cinema and the song was a major one for the film, some people saw keeping him as a risk.
The account does not say what happened next.
