Saxony-Anhalt parliament president plans to invite Russian, US and Israeli envoys

Saxony-Anhalt parliament president plans to invite Russian, US and Israeli envoys

Tobias Rausch, the new president of the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt, wants to invite ambassadors from the United States, Israel and Russia.

He said the US ambassador would be invited first, followed by Israel’s and then Russia’s.

Rausch said he wants to support diplomatic relations.

Germany’s relationship with Russia is badly strained by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The AfD, which is classified as far-right in Saxony-Anhalt, won the most seats in the state election but does not have a majority on its own.

The party is also seeking support for Ulrich Siegmund to become state premier, with a vote planned for December.

Rausch said talks are continuing over policy conditions for that vote.
