Miriam González Durántez launches election bid in Madrid and Barcelona

Miriam González Durántez, leader of Democracia 21, has presented her political project in Madrid.

The liberal-centre initiative plans to contest the upcoming Spanish general election only in the Madrid and Barcelona constituencies.

González Durántez said the party aims eventually to run in every constituency, but the election was called at short notice.

She argues that Spain’s political system needs major reform because it does not meet citizens’ needs or reflect their efforts.

She also criticised the confrontation between political blocs and called for people to regain confidence in politics.

The party’s immediate next step is to stand in Madrid and Barcelona.
