US sets conditions for sanctions on International Criminal Court
The US has announced sanctions against the International Criminal Court, but they are set to take effect only in April 2027.
Washington says the court must drop arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant and close its investigation into alleged crimes by US forces and the CIA in Afghanistan.
The US also wants the court to change its rules on prosecuting people from countries that have not joined it.
The dispute matters because the demands could affect the court’s ability to investigate serious crimes.
