England select 18-year-old Thomas Rew for Australia white-ball tour

England have selected 18-year-old Thomas Rew for his first senior call-up, joining the men’s white-ball squads for a tour of Australia next month.

The four-week trip includes three one-day internationals and five Twenty20 matches, following England’s tri-series in Pakistan.

Rew is a Somerset wicketkeeper-batter who has scored two centuries in four first-class appearances.

He is one of four uncapped players in the T20 squad, alongside Henry Crocombe, James Coles and Eddie Jack.

Jacob Bethell is fit to return after a knee injury, while Jos Buttler remains absent after hamstring surgery.

England’s frontline fast bowlers will play the ODIs, which start on 13 November, before leaving for the Test tour of South Africa.

Brydon Carse remains out of the squads while he awaits the outcome of a disciplinary process.
