Bhuvneshwar Kumar earns India T20I recall after RCB performances
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has returned to India’s T20I squad after a four-year absence.
The fast bowler’s selection is for an upcoming five-match series against New Zealand.
Former India spinner R Ashwin said Bhuvneshwar focused on his bowling and performances for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL rather than trying to secure a return.
Ashwin sees the recall as a reward for those performances, not something Bhuvneshwar chased.
The selection has also prompted questions about Mohammed Shami’s prospects, and Ashwin said Shami could return if he works hard and believes he can do it.
Ashwin also backed India as a contender for the 2027 ODI World Cup, while warning that host nation South Africa would be a tough opponent.
