China opens sales of two fixed-rate savings bonds

China has started selling two savings bonds.

One lasts three years and pays 1.63% interest each year; the other lasts five years and pays 1.7%.

Each buyer can purchase up to 500,000 yuan of each bond.

The bonds let people lend money to the government for a set time in return for fixed interest.
