NFL office directed Dre Greenlaw's ejection after sideline head-butt
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected during his team's win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The decision came from the NFL office, not from officials on the field.
The NFL said Greenlaw head-butted a player who was not wearing a helmet on the sideline.
A rule adopted by the teams this year allows the league's replay center in New York to eject a player, even if no flag was thrown.
In this case, a flag had been thrown, and an NFL executive directed the ejection.
The incident could also lead to a suspension.
The NFL will review what happened on Monday and decide whether to suspend Greenlaw.
