Hybrid rice seed harvest begins in Fujian village

Farmers have begun harvesting hybrid rice seed in Huangfang village, in Cao Fang town, Ninghua County, Fujian province, China.

The village has more than 1,200 mu of fields in the crop.

Its party branch secretary expects yields of about 400 jin per mu and total output value of more than 4 million yuan this year.

A local farmer said a company will buy the harvest, so growers do not have to find their own buyers.

The village links farmers with seed companies to address gaps in technical support and uncertainty about sales.

Ninghua is a major hybrid rice seed production county, and in 2026 it planted 72,000 mu across 16 towns and 117 villages.

The county expects to produce 14.5 million kilograms of seed, supported by 66 registered seed companies and 62 production contractors.
