Anjala Bandara earns first Sri Lanka Test call-up after prolific year
Sri Lanka has named Anjala Bandara in its squad for two Tests in Pakistan, starting November 9.
The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has received his first call-up to the national Test team.
He has scored 1,426 runs in red-ball cricket this year at an average of 95, including six centuries.
Those performances have strengthened his case after he narrowly missed selection for the India series.
Bandara could make his international debut and take over wicketkeeping duties, as captain Kusal Mendis may give up the gloves.
Bandara has also played 31 first-class matches, scoring 2,239 runs at an average of 65.85.
