Ubitium raises $14 million to develop processor for physical AI

Semiconductor startup Ubitium raised $14 million in seed funding to develop a processor for physical AI, which combines computing with machines that act in the real world.

The funding round was led by Ibex Investors, with several existing investors and other participants, and brings Ubitium’s total seed funding to $18 million.

The processor is designed for machines such as robots, drones, vehicles and industrial equipment.

These machines must interpret sensor data, make decisions and control movement in real time, tasks that are often handled by separate chips.

Ubitium aims to combine those tasks in one reconfigurable processor, which can shift computing resources according to a machine’s needs.

Its first chip demonstrated signal processing, AI inference and real-time control on the same architecture, while the planned UB410 will have 4,096 processing elements.

The company says one processor could reduce data transfers and simplify machine design, potentially lowering complexity and cost.

Ubitium plans to use the funding to advance the UB410, with production preparation and delivery of evaluation units planned for 2027.

Physical AI machines bring a whole new set of computing challenges, and the inference isn't the hardest one. Sensing the real world and controlling the machine in it are just as hard, and today those still run on separate chips. We built one Physical AI processor that does all three, proved it in silicon in a year, and this funding turns it into a product.
